What is acne?
Acne is a disorder of hair follicles and oil glands (sebaceous glands). The sebaceous glands secrete oils (sebum) to keep the skin moist. When the glands get clogged, it can lead to pimples and cysts especially on the face, shoulders, back, neck, chest, and upper arms. Acne is a chronic, inflammatory skin condition. It commonly occurs during puberty, when the sebaceous glands activate, but it can occur at any age. It is not dangerous, but it can leave skin scars.
Normally, the sebum produced travels through the hair follicles to the skin. However, skin cells can plug follicles. This can block the sebum. When follicles become plugged, skin bacteria begin to grow inside the follicles. Inflammation and pimples then develop. The most common types of pimples are:
Whiteheads (closed Comedones): These pimples are sealed over and have a small white pus-filled top.
Blackheads (open Comedones): These pimples have a small, black opening at the top. Although these pimples are black, the color is not from dirt. It's from the process of oxidation when the sebum is exposed to air.
Papules: These are tender, small pink bumps.
Pustules: Pimples that have pus, on the top and are red on the bottom of the lesion.
Nodules: These are hard, large, painful pimples that arise deep in the skin.
Cysts: Pus-filled, deep, painful pimples that often result in scars.
What causes acne?
Rising hormone levels during puberty may cause acne. Also, acne is often inherited. Other causes of acne may include the following:
· Hormone level changes during a woman’s menstrual cycle
· Hormones changes during pregnancy
· Starting or stopping birth control pills
· Certain medicines (such as corticosteroids, lithium, and barbiturates)
· Oil and grease from the scalp, mineral or cooking oil, and certain cosmetics
· Diet may also play a role
· Squeezing the pimples or scrubbing the skin too hard can make acne worse.
Skin may also become irritated with friction or pressure from helmets, backpacks, or tight collars. Pollution or humidity can also irritate the skin.
What are the symptoms of acne?
Acne can appear as pimples without abscesses or pus-filled cysts that rupture and result in larger abscesses. It can happen anywhere on the body. Acne most often appears in areas where more sebaceous glands are found.

What is Argireline?
Argireline is just a brand name for a particular peptide, acetyl hexapeptide-3. Peptides are short chains of amino acids, the foundation for proteins, including collagen and elastin, making them essential for healthy, youthful skin. It is the first peptide with a targeted effect on expression wrinkles. Argireline is one of the best contenders of Botox. Argireline is a peptide that affects nerve-to-muscle communication so that the muscles can’t adequately contract. Along with its muscle-paralyzing effects, it also stimulates Collagen production.
Benefits of Argireline for Skin:
Argireline targets pesky lines and wrinkles in multiple ways.
· Argireline interferes with a protein receptor complex, which helps cause muscle movement. (It keeps the nerves from talking to the muscles and telling them to contract and fewer muscle contractions result in fewer wrinkles).
· Stimulates collagen production: By increasing the production of collagen, the protein responsible for firm, healthy skin, it also helps to keep fine lines and wrinkles from forming.
· Helps the skin retain moisture: Argireline also optimizes collagen function, which, along with the skin-smoothing effects, improves moisture levels in the skin and hydrated skin always looks more youthful than dry skin.
This peptide is best for targeted application on spots where you have deep folds or creases that have formed due to repetitive muscle movement, the crinkles around the eyes, the ‘11’ between brows, and forehead wrinkles are all ideal spots. Because the final formulation of each product can vary drastically, follow product instructions for how often to use it.
Q: What are peptides?
A: Peptides occur naturally in the skin. They're protein fragments made of amino acid chains, specific combinations of which form specific peptides. When these peptides interact, they form larger proteins like collagen and elastin. These larger proteins are commonly referred to as the building blocks of the skin; a healthy, youthful-looking complexion is nothing without them.
Peptides are known for intracellular communication. They interact with our natural physiological processes, and impact skin responses to stress and inflammation. They make fine lines and/or block neurotransmitters that lead to skin sensitivity. Scientists picked up the usefulness of these biologically occurring wonders and developed synthetic versions for inclusion in cosmetic products.
Four peptides are commonly used in skincare products, each performing a slightly different function.
Carrier peptides: These are often called copper peptides. They work to deliver copper to certain enzymes critical to collagen, elastin and wound healing.
Signal peptide: Signal peptides prevent ageing by reminding skin fibroblasts to wake up and get busy, resulting in more collagen and elastin.
Neurotransmitter peptide: These peptides block communication between the skin and the brain, which causes muscle contractions.
Enzyme inhibitor peptide: These peptides inhibit the behavior of enzymes that degrade collagen as we age. These peptides play different roles; assist from hyperpigmentation to smoothing expression lines and boost the efficacy of other skincare ingredients, helping them penetrate the skin's surface layers more easily.
Q: What is acetyle hexapeptide?
A: Acetyl hexapeptide or hexapeptide 8 is a neurotransmitter-inhibiting peptide. As a neurotransmitter-inhibiting peptide, acetyl hexapeptide works by blocking the messages from the brain that cause muscles to contract as we talk, laugh and smile and form deep wrinkles over time.
Benefits: Acetyl hexapeptide-8 is a muscle relaxant and a "neuro cosmetic", part of a class of ingredients that work with the skin-brain connection to provide preventative and immediate anti-ageing results, targeting the dynamic lines (creases that form around the eyes and mouth) caused by repeated facial expressions like laughing, smiling, and frowning. It works below the skin's surface layers to deliver its anti-ageing magic. It is often compared to Botox because it smooths expression lines, just like the anti-wrinkle injection. It boosts skin moisture because of naturally water binding properties and maintaining surface-level skin hydration.
The benefits increased when it combined with HA. It’s known for its muscle-freezing abilities, preserving and boosting skin collagen. Peptide increases the production of collagen fibers, boosting skin strength and elasticity
Hexapeptide-8 is non-irritating and safe for all skin types.
Q: What is hyaluronic acid?
A: HA is a naturally occurring glycosaminoglycan found in the body’s connective tissue. HA gives our skin structure, plump and hydrated look, skin flexibility and elasticity. Any topical product contains HA help rebuild depleted stores. HA attracts and binds to water molecules and increases the water content of the skin and absorbs more than 1,000 times its weight in water.
HA benefits: Anti-aging, Moisturizing, Anti-wrinkle
Q: What is Collagen?
A: Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body, found in the bones, muscles, skin, and tendons, and provides strength and structure to the cells. It is an essential component of connective tissue and plays a crucial role in holding the body’s cells together. It also gives strength and elasticity to the skin.
Endogenous collagen is a natural collagen that the body synthesizes. Exogenous collagen is synthetic. It comes from an outside source, such as supplements. Endogenous collagen takes care of.
SKIN – TENDONS - BLOOD VESSELS – CARTILAGE – BONE CONNECTIVE TISSUE
Collagen is a key component of the extracellular matrix, a network of molecules that
· holds together the body’s tissues
· Healthy collagen levels contribute to Joint health
· Protection of the kidneys and other organs
· Maintains skin elasticity
One third of the protein in the human body and three-quarters of the dry weight of skin consist of collagen. There are around 28 types of collagens, and they all have different structures. In the skin, collagen provides strength and elasticity. As we get older, our collagen levels fall, and collagen fibers become thinner and weaker that contribute to skin aging. Some types of collagens are re-absorbable, (broken down, converted, and absorbed back into the body).
Skin revitalization: boosting collagen production or preventing its decline may help keep skin strong, elastic, and younger-looking. Possible ways of doing this include using creams and oral supplements containing hydrolyzed collagen peptides, vitamins, and antioxidants
· Hormonal changes due to pregnancy, menopause, health conditions
· Oxidative stress, which results from metabolic processes plus smoking and diet
· The natural process of aging
· Tobacco, and a high-sugar diet may lead to the degradation of collagen in the body.
· Too much sun exposure, as ultraviolet rays can cause collagen to break down in the skin
· Some genetic conditions can affect the production of collagen.
Strategies that may help prevent collagen loss:
· Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, as they contain vitamins and antioxidants.
· Avoid smoking and processed foods, which increase the risk of oxidative stress.
· Protect the skin from sun exposure.
· Ask a dermatologist about Collagen supplement.
